This page contains the resources that I have found useful in my personal and professional life. Admittedly, it is an eclectic list. It contains everything from quotes and books that I like to podcasts, videos, and slideshows.
If you don’t want to scroll through the entire list, you can click on one of the links below and filter the resources by specific category.
I will update this list as I discover new resources. If you have a resource you think I should add, please email me.

If God the Holy Spirit left your church this weekend, what would happen next? Would people stop coming, or would they keep coming for many of the same reasons they came before? Should churches be attractional, missional, or both? What does it mean to rely on the gospel to build “community”?
Mark Dever and Jamie Dunlop try to answer these questions in their new book, The Compelling Community. Listen in as Jonathan Leeman asks our two authors these questions and more.

I’m always interested to hear the wisdom of preachers who have preached in the same place for a few decades. Theirs is a unique perspective and increasingly rare in our time.
Mark Dever just celebrated 20 years pastoring the congregation of Capitol Hill Baptist Church. One of his former pastoral assistants, Garrett Kell, recently sat down with the 9Marks Man for a wide-ranging conversation on the art and practice of preaching.
Listen in to hear Dever’s insights and convictions regarding all matters pertinent to faithful preaching, such as:
“The 4 P’s of a Faithful Pastorate”

On October 14, 2012 Garrett Kell was installed as the pastor of Del Ray Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia. Garrett has served as an intern and Assistant Pastor at Capitol Hill Baptist Church, so it didn’t surprise anyone that Mark Dever was chosen to preach the installation sermon.
And what a sermon it was.
Dever spent his time walking through the “4 P’s of a Faithful Pastorate”: preach, pray, personal discipling relationships, and patience. Whenever I’m discouraged in ministry I often find myself returning to this sermon. It always encourages, challenges, edifies, and sharpens my heart for ministry. I’m sure it will do the same for you. “Interview with Dever on “Raising Up Leaders””

I once heard CJ Mahaney say something like, “Mark Dever’s discipling ministry has the longest reach of any pastor I’ve ever known.”
So it was with eager anticipation I tuned into the latest 9Marks interview as Jonthan Leeman asks Dever about his methods for raising up leaders in the church. What a useful interview! Listen in to find out how Dever uses sarcasm and mockery to encourage brothers in ministry, the place encouragement and criticism has in training elders, what ways senior pastors can delegate authority, and so much more.

The latest 9Marks interview finds Mark Dever sitting down with John MacArthur to discuss the latter’s first message at the most recent Shepherds’ Conference.
Carl Trueman once wrote, “Self-love which is an end in itself is, of course, narcissism.” MacArthur sees the cultural triumph of this self-love chipping away at biblical fellowship. Listen to find out how Dever and MacArthur answer:

Several weeks ago I let you know about the partnership between 9Marks and Crossway to publish the “Building Healthy Churches” series. Of all the forthcoming volumes, David Helm’s offering on Expository Preaching has me giddy in anticipation.
Chandler says, “David Helm has written the most helpful, concise, and useful book on expository preaching I have ever read.” Dever, who has his own book on preaching, believes if he could assign only one book on preaching “this might be the one. It’s a rare find that both introduces a topic to the novice and instructs the experienced. David’s humility convicts, rebukes, instructs, and encourages me as a preacher. I pray it will do the same for you.”
Recently Dever sat down with Helm to discuss the new book, training preachers, and sundry topics on modern exposition.
I always find the 9Marks Interviews helpful, but this latest chat is unusually edifying and challenging. Make sure you get to the brief, yet important, discussion on implication versus application.
“Lessons Learned from Reforming a Church”

Earlier this year I read Andy Davis’ spectacular book An Infinite Journey: Growing Toward Christlikeness and it led to me see what other resources from Davis are available.
Eventually I came across his account of reforming FBC Durham. What a story!
A few weeks after that article was published 9Marks did an interview with Davis asking for, among other things, lessons learned from the reform of his church. If you are pastoring in a church and patiently laboring for church reform, listen to this interview. If you are in a healthy church listen to this interview, as you will find multiple encouragements unto ordinary, faithful ministry.
This story of reform is stirs, challenges, and glorifies God.

In 2008 Aaron Menikoff was installed at the Senior Pastor of Mount Vernon Church in Sandy Springs, GA (just outside Atlanta). As part of his installation weekend he brought some friends and influences together to speak about the church. Listen in as Menikoff asks Mark Dever, Greg Gilbert, Matt Schmucker, Michael Lawrence, Greg Wills, and Brad Wheeler for their wisdom on leading a healthy church. Tolle audite!

Two years ago Greg Beale published his magnum opus A New Testament Biblical Theology. A few months after it was published Mark Dever sat down with the New Testament scholar for a fascinating interview.
Dever walks Beale through a hypothetical Christian bookstore and gets his brief comments on all kinds of biblical theology works published in the last few decades. Furthermore, if you listen all the way to the end you’ll find out what is the major commentary Beale hopes to publish next.

I love men of conviction. Godly brothers who aren’t afraid to rebel against the status quo of evangelicalism when such rebellion is warranted by truth. One rebel of conviction worth our attention today is Carl Trueman. Love him or loathe him (I have friends who fall in one of those camps), he’s always thought provoking. So I’ll read or listen to just about anything he puts out.
Ryan Huguley recently hosted Trueman on his “In The Room” podcast to discuss the Westminster man’s latest book, Luther on the Christian Life: Cross and Freedom. The interview doesn’t actually deal too much with specifics of the book, but you should still listen in to hear Trueman’s excellent ruminations on why Christians should study history, which historical figures he finds most valuable, and why Twitter is a rather “ghastly” medium for communication.
